Who is BowlerCentral.com?
We are a specialized web information and entertainment portal that focuses on the sport of bowling, it’s bowlers and it’s proprietors. BowlerCentral.com is designed at this time to focus primarily on the Pacific Northwest Region in the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Southern British Columbia Canada.
We were created by a team lead by Matt Schilling and Marc Schilling. These brothers felt that the bowling community needed better and more timely information and content and set forth to bring you BowlerCentral.com.
Matt Schilling is the Owner and Chief Webmaster of the site and a recent graduate from Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon. He has a Bachelors degree in Business with a Minor in Computer Science. Matt is a sports enthusiast and enjoys the leisurely sport of bowling in his spare time.
Marc Schilling is the Director of Operations and oversees the day-to-day details of the web site and is the visible representative to the bowling community. His primary role is to be where the bowlers are and you can most often find him at a bowling center or tournament. Marc’s resume includes the management of multi-million dollar a year retail stores, consultant on many small business projects in the high-tech sector, and he is an avid bowler and tournament bowler.
What makes you different from other Internet sites?
Our uniqueness comes from our content and the completeness of our web site. We feature greater content and information about individual bowling centers and pro shops. We also support the Bowling Associations (ABC, WIBC, PBA, YABA ect.) and Tournament Associations (CWBTA, ABT, NWBT, OBA ect.) that are local to our region. At BowlerCentral.com, a visitor has access to never before available information about bowling centers, tournaments and events, bowling tips/information, a complete bowler’s forum for discussions and soon, access to merchandise and equipment at discounted prices. BowlerCentral.com also features an active newsletter that visitors to the site can sign up for which provides target marketing opportunities and a place to feature a lot of information every 2-3 weeks during the year. It’s a community of bowlers.
Why did you create BowlerCentral.com?
One of the key reasons for the creation of BowlerCentral.com is to create awareness and loyalty to the sport of bowling. Over the past few years, we have seen vendors, centers and events simply close their businesses due to lack of support. Past experience by the BowlerCentral.com team has shown that traditional marketing methods simply don’t work when dealing with such a specialized sport. We know that newspaper advertising, radio/TV ads, and mass mailings don’t reach the intended target audiences, are expensive and rarely produce measurable results. We also know that other methods of advertising are extremely expensive. Most centers do a good job of getting information to their current bowler base, but are missing the casual bowlers, bowlers from other areas ect. Our goal is to help bridge that gap with timely and affordable information and marketing.
